ARMORY GYMNASTICS
The Armory Gymnastics Center has been providing professional and affordable gymnastics to the community of Montgomery and the surrounding counties for over 25 years. Through the support of the City of Montgomery and the thousands of patrons and Booster Club members, the facility has grown to one of the largest in the state and certainly the best equipped. Children start in the program at the age of 2 and can stay until any age and we are prepared to see them through to whatever their dreams involve. Be it competitive gymnastics, competitive cheer, recreational gymnastics or supplemental curriculum to assist with other sports, we are ready. Call or come by and take advantage of our free class and find out what this sport holds for you or your family.
More About the Armory
The City of Montgomery began allowing the boys and girls of Montgomery to use the old reserve building located on Madison Avenue back in 1982. In 1983, with the help of some grant monies and the support of the Mayor and City council, the building was renovated and converted into the Armory Learning Arts Center. The Center housed the Parks and Recreations gymnastics program which was then called the Montgomery Park Pirouettes. In 1987 the program was almost abandoned, but through the diligent work of the parents in the program the City was convinced to give the gym a little more time to develop. In 1988, the administration of the program found itself in the hands of a new director, who changed the name of the program to "The Armory Gymnastics Center". With some additional change to the structure and class schedules, the program took off. So, the little gym program that started in a small part of the current building, grew and in 1994 expanded and built what is now our main gym and lobby. But, we didn't stop there. In 2003, the gym added another gym for the competitive teams and cheerleaders of the program. Our mission is and has always been to offer the best and most affordable gym program in the state and we continue to strive toward that objective today.
Classes at the Armory
The Armory offer classes to every level of todays gymnasts. Starting with 2-yr olds and progressing toward adults. The classes encompass all ages and abilities. Most children use the gym to supplement their activities or other sports, but some choose to pursue the competitive side of gymnastics and the Armory is prepared for that child as well. We are one of the few gyms in the state that offer a competitive gym program to girls and boys. Any boy or girl in the area can start at the Armory and with enough time and dedication can follow their dreams of Regional and National recognition in this sport.
